Course leader: Alison Bailey, Pathfinder consultant trainer

Alison has been involved in developing and leading CPD for teachers across the region for over 30 years, and has recently led training programmes for Pathfinder on aspects of adaptive teaching and practical approaches to applying an understanding of cognitive science in the classroom.  This sequence of stand-alone Zoom Shorts takes aspects of the ECF training, Pathfinder Adaptive Teaching and WalkThru programmes and explores them in more detail.

Session overview

Modelling is often used effectively in the teaching of writing and mathematics, but tends to be less well employed in reading. This one hour online session will look at practical approaches to use adult modelling effectively as an ‘I do’ strategy when teaching reading tin whole class and small groups.

Session aims

Delegates will gain:

  • a range of strategies to model decoding, blending, fluency and the monitoring of comprehension on the run;
  • a deeper understanding of how to scaffold pupils towards greater independence in these aspects of reading.

NB. Delegates should join the session on a device with working camera and microphone.
