Modelling in writing

Session overview

Teacher demonstration is a vital element of the teaching of writing.  This one hour online session will look at ways to approach whole class or smaller group modelled and shared writing (‘I do and we do’), including balancing composition and transcriptional skills.

Session aims:

Delegates will gain:

• a deeper understanding of what to model when
• how to use teacher commentary to help children develop an inner ‘writer’s voice’ 
• a range of strategies to sustain pupils’ attention and involvement
• a range of ways to scaffold and manage pupil contributions.

NB. Delegates should join the session on a device with working camera and microphone.
