Session overview
This short, focused, online session focuses on the fundamental grammatical building block of writing – and of academic talk – the sentence. Establishing the concept of a sentence is a key element in teaching through Early Years and Y1. The course will recommend evidence-based, practical approaches to support children in developing their understanding and ability to speak and write in sentences.
Session aims
- Gain a range of effective, practical approaches to introducing, exploring and consolidating the concept of a sentence through oracy, reading and writing activities across the curriculum;
- Understand, and be able to identify, specific difficulties individual pupils may have in forming these concepts, and identify approaches to address these.
