Session overview
This short, online session will cover the main points teachers should consider when planning their writing year in LKS2 – what to include, what to prioritise, key teaching approaches, and how to build children’s increasing independence across the year. A more detailed and interactive version of this course is available during the afternoon of the same day as an alternative.
Session aims
- Be clear on the main priorities in the teaching of writing for the yeargroup;
- Be clear on progression in teaching across the year to ensure children progress towards independence;
- Understand how writing is embedded in the broader curriculum and provision in the class;
- Ensure evidence to underpin secure assessment is built up over the year.
