Session overview
This short, online session will cover the main points teachers should consider when planning their writing year at Y6 – what to include, what to prioritise, key teaching approaches, and how to build children’s increasing independence across the year as well as ensuring appropriate evidence is available for secure judgements in statutory assessment.. A more detailed and interactive version of this course is available during the afternoon of the same day as an alternative.
Session aims
- Be clear on the main priorities in the teaching of writing for the yeargroup;
- Be clear on progression in teaching across the year to ensure children progress towards independence;
- Understand how writing is embedded in the broader curriculum and provision in the class;
- Ensure evidence to underpin secure assessment is built up over the year.
