Session overview
Knowledge organisers, originally confined to a few secondary subject areas, have gained popularity in primary schools in recent years. This short, focused, online session will look at what they are, how to construct and how to use them effectively to support children in learning and retaining key subject knowledge.
Session aims
- Gain an understanding of the research basis for identifying and sharing core knowledge with pupils across the curriculum;
- Consider what could be included on a knowledge orgainiser and how to construct one;
- Gain a range of effective techniques for using the organisers with children to secure retention of key facts and ideas, and to promote deeper learning of key concepts.
