York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and is proud to have been involved in teacher education since 1841.  Partnership and collaboration are at the heart of our Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes, and we work successfully with a broad range of partners and schools across the region.

Our partnership is well established and highly regarded across the region with many of our student teachers employed in local and regional schools. As the largest provider of ITE in the area we have a large staff team of subject specialists at both primary and secondary level, and are committed to providing our student teachers with high quality experiences to ensure they have the very best start in their journey to become a teacher.

In addition to the strong curriculum and robust support systems provided for our student teachers we also work closely with school-based mentors who complete the high-quality mentor training and development opportunities we provide, to enable them to fully support our student teachers when on placement. Once qualified we continue to support our student teachers as they become Early Career Teachers.
